Officers from GMP's Xcalibre Task Force working under Operation Tahara made five arrests and recovered a machete at the weekend. On Friday 6 October 2023 at around 4.35pm, officers were called to reports of a grey Hyundai driving erratically on Chester Road, Trafford. Upon stopping the car over, officers found a total of 19 snap bags containing Class A drugs. A 29-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply and was taken into police custody for questioning. He has since been bailed. At around 7.25pm on Sunday 8 October 2023, officers were called to reports of a large group of youngsters with knives setting off fireworks in Crowcroft Park, Longsight. The offenders made off and a pursuit on foot ensued with officers detaining two men. A 16-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possession of a bladed article and possession with intent to supply. He has since been bailed. A 45-year-old man was also arrested for obstruction and assaulting an emergency worker. He has since been bailed pending further investigation. Elsewhere over the weekend, a 39-year-old woman was arrested for breaching a court order in Hulme and a 17-year-old man was arrested after a short pursuit in North Manchester on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, driving without insurance, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence and dangerous driving.
