REGISTERING FOR CHRISTMAS TREE DISPOSAL IN SALFORD HELPS ST ANN'S HOSPICE TREEMENDOUSLY

    SHARE |

Disposing of your Christmas tree has never been easier, St Ann's Hospice is encouraging people to have their tree collected and recycled in January.

The charity is one of the beneficiary partners, alongside Francis House Children’s Hospice, that is working with national charity JustHelping to organise Christmas tree collections in local areas.

The collections have been run by JustHelping and St Ann’s with the support of community volunteers, sponsors and donors for ten years.

All postcode areas in Manchester, Stockport, Trafford and Salford are eligible to get their Christmas tree collected.

The Christmas trees will be collected by volunteers between Thursday 11th and Sunday 14th January 2024. The collections are a great way to dispose of Christmas trees in a stress-free and sustainable way. They protect the environment by having your tree recycled, with the chippings being used for pathways and flowerbeds in local parks.

JustHelping ran their most successful Christmas tree collection to date in January 2023. Through collecting and recycling 5,270 Christmas trees across Stockport, Trafford, Salford and Manchester, the collection raised £63,07.99 for fifteen local charities/voluntary groups in the area including over £57,000 for the hospice.

    Lucy Leeming, Fundraising Manager, said:

"We are so proud of how much was raised in last year’s Christmas tree collection, and we are really excited for this year’s as the collection areas have expanded.

“We’re hugely thankful to JustHelping, all of the volunteers who help with the collections, and everyone who makes a donation. We encourage everyone that lives in the eligible postcodes to sign up!”

Tom Laverty, Development Manager at JustHelping, says:

“JustHelping are delighted to be supporting St Ann’s Hospice at such an important chapter of their incredible history. The campaign continues to offer an easy and convenient way for people to support this amazing charity whose work is deeply ingrained within our wider community. For the first time we will be offering collections in all postcodes within their area.”
