The final phase of the rebuilding of a war-torn school in Ukraine is now one step closer to completion thanks to a great fundraising effort by the Rotary Club of Irlam. The club recently held a fundraising night at Irlam Catholic Club that raised over £2,000 to support the work on the school rebuild in Ukraine. Organizer Bill McLaughlin from Irlam Rotary Club said: “A fantastic and fun night of live music, that had everyone up and dancing whilst supporting such a tremendous cause. A massive thank you to everyone who supported the night including D J Barry Golden and the brilliant 80’s live music duo The REFLEX, along with the very talented local singer and songwriter Jess Kemp who gave her services for free. "I would like to thank all those that bought a ticket or donated to the raffle and auction including the Wolfsburn Distillery in Scotland and the team at ‘Irlam Live’. As well as the very generous bidders that supported the auction or bought a raffle ticket! In total we raised over £2,000 on the night that along with £850 raised from a fun race night in November at Cadishead Bandroom and other donations and funding, means that we have raised well over £5,300 to support the rebuilding of the school in Ukraine. THANK YOU!” Every penny that Irlam Rotary Club raises goes back to support good causes locally, nationally and internationally. They are always looking for new members to join the team with the emphasis on friendship, a bit of fun and supporting others where they can.
