Two teenagers who can not be named due to a legal court order, have both been found guilty of the murder of transgender teen Brianna Ghey. Named only as Girl X from Culcheth and Boy Y from Leigh, the court was told how the pair had plotted to lure and stab to death the teen during a visit to a park close to Warrington, via WhatsApp messages which were found on their phones. 16-year-old Brianna died at the scene after being stabbed during a brutal attack in broad daylight at Culcheth Linear Park, Warrington. The teens body was discovered by dog walkers, face down in the mud at around 3pm, she had received multiple stab wounds to the head, neck back and chest, 28 in total. The murder weapon, a knife which had been bought from a souvenir shop by Boy Y whilst on a family holiday, was found with his DNA on the handle alongside items of clothing all covered in Brianna's blood. During the almost 4-week long trial the pair had blamed each other for the stabbing but it took jurors just 4 hours to find the pair guilty of the crimes they were accused of, despite the teens attempts to pass the blame onto each other. During the trial it was revealed that the pair had discussed the killing and torture of other children named within the WhatsApp conversations. The court has decided that sentencing will not take place this week.
