The iconic and much beloved local landmark which is Salford Lads (and now ladies) Club, is celebrating it's 120th birthday today.

It was on this day in 1904 that the club first opened it's doors to the youth of the city and it has been an integral part of the fabric and history of Salford ever since, so much so that the now iconic front doors were featured on the inner cover of The Smiths 'The Queen is Dead' album back in 1985, the band famously posed outside the club for the photo, forever immortalizing Salford Lads' Club in popular culture and drawing attention to its enduring legacy.

But beyond its pop culture association, Salford Lads' Club continues to play a vital role in the lives of young people today. From sports teams to arts and crafts workshops, from educational support to leadership training, the club offers a diverse range of activities designed to engage and inspire its members.

At its core, Salford Lads' Club is more than just a building; it's a community hub where many friendships have been forged over the years, talents discovered, and dreams nurtured.

It's a place where young people are encouraged to believe in themselves, to strive for excellence, and to make a positive difference in their own lives and the lives of others.

The club has taken countless kids on trips across not only the UK but the world, many of which are immortalised in photos which adorn the inner walls of the building.

A list of the names of former club members including such famed sons as Graham Nash are featured on a commemorative wall, whilst Morrisey and Smiths followers flock from far and wide to visit the club and it's special room dedicated to the band of which is is forever entwined. A mecca for the legions of fans both near and far.
