FINAL SPOT FOR SALFORD RED DEVILS

    SHARE |

It has been a fantastic season for the Salford Red Devils Development Academy Rugby League team, who have now reached the Premier League Grand Final to be held next Wednesday 20th March at Leigh Miners Rugby League Club.

The team of College students from Salford and Eccles College’s where they are based have had an awesome season losing only one match all season, winning the League Leaders title along the way.

In the semi-final the Reds who play at under 18’s level took on the ‘old enemy’ Warrington Wolves at the home of Cadishead Rhinos on Lords Street and despite falling behind 6-0, showed their usual ‘grit’ and ‘determination’ to reach the final with a hard fought 10-6 win.

Danny Barton, the team’s head coach and head of Youth Development at the Salford Red Devils Foundation said,

“These lads are a very special group of players and typify the Salford way of playing rugby league. We are so proud of how they have performed this season and to reach the Grand Final is just reward for all their commitment and hard work.”

The student players have time and again come up against professional players during the campaign and it is testament to their team spirit and no shortage of talent they have lost just once across the season.

Salford tries were scored by Joe Griffiths and Zavier Dele-Charlie with Rhylie Makin tacking on a conversion. A fantastic achievement and let’s wish all the lads the very best for one final effort against Castleford next week to make it a double celebration.
