Body recovered from the water at salford quays

Greater Manchester Police have confirmed that they have sadly recovered the body from the waters of Ontario Basin on Salford Quays earlier this morning (Sunday 23rd June).

At around 4:15am this morning, emergency services responded to a call of concern after reports of a man being spotted in the water.

An underwater search team were dispatched alongside Police, Fire and Ambulance services and sadly had the task of recovering a body.

Several roads in the area were cordoned by police and Tram services were restricted whilst emergency services dealt with the situation.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police, said:

“At around 4.15am this morning, officers received a report of a man in the water at Salford Quays.

“Emergency services quickly attended but sadly, the body of a man was later recovered from the water.

“His family are currently being supported by specialist officers.

“There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances at this time and enquiries are ongoing.”.
