Emergency Services Called To Salford Quays following reports of concerns for a man in the water

Emergency services attended an incident at Salford Quays this morning (Sunday 23rd June), following reports of concern for a man in the water close to Furness Quay.

The area adjacent to Ontario Basin was taped off by police as an underwater search team conducted searches alongside Police and the Fire Service.

Metrolink services between Pomona Dock and Eccles were temporarily suspended with the public being advised that they can use tickets on bus services as an alternative. Roads in the area were also being affected.

According to an update from the Bee Network, the incident is now over and trams are back in operation with no restrictions in place.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police, said:

“At about 4.15am this morning (23 June 2024), officers were called over concerns for a man in the water at Salford Quays.

“NWAS and GMFRS are also in attendance and the scene is ongoing.”

A spokesperson for (GMFRS), said:

“Two fire engines from Salford fire station, a water incident unit from Eccles, and a technical response unit from Ashton were sent to the scene at about 4.20am today.”
