More than 60 bowlers and spectators enjoyed a great day of crown green bowling hosted by the St. John’s Bowling Club and despite a bit of rain courtesy of storm Laura the final was played in bright sunshine.
The eventual winners playing for the first time for the COOP Cup sponsored by B Johnson (COOP) Funeralcare based in Cadishead was won by 65-year-old David Yates (Snr) who has been bowling for more than 40 years and his grandson 20-year-old David Yates (Jnr) who has been playing the game for around ten years both Cadishead men playing for the Grange Bowling Club from Cadishead.
In the final they beat Paul Bailey and Les Goldstrong representing Winton Park Bowling Club, the final score 21-11.
Kate from COOP Funeralcare was delighted to present the COOP Cup and lovely glass trophies provided by the Festival Committee for the winners and runners-up to keep following the final.
Bill McLaughlin from the Irlam and Cadishead Festival Committee said,
“A big thank you to everyone who played or supported the bowlers and a special thank you to everyone from St. John’s Bowling Club for hosting and supporting a great annual event.
