Campus Living Villages (CLV) has unveiled plans for a significant redevelopment in Pendleton, Salford, aimed at expanding student accommodation. The proposal involves demolishing the existing 15-storey Derwent and Irwell buildings on the University of Salford’s Peel Park campus to make way for two new 28-storey towers. This development will boost the number of student units from 700 to 1,585, addressing the rising demand for Purpose-Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) in the area.
Designed by Hadwell Cawkwell Davidson, the new towers will feature a combination of traditional student bedrooms and self-contained apartments. The proposed design emphasizes modern amenities and aims to enhance the overall living experience for students.

The project represents a major upgrade from earlier plans that faced criticism and were subsequently revised. The new towers are expected to significantly contribute to meeting the accommodation needs of Salford’s growing student population, ensuring students have access to high-quality living spaces.
This development aligns with the broader trends in urban student housing, focusing on creating more substantial and well-equipped living environments. The emphasis on PBSA reflects a shift towards specialized housing solutions that cater specifically to student needs, providing both comfort and convenience.
