Salford Businessman and longtime Rotarian Charanjit Singh Heera, has once again shown what a fantastically generous man he is, donating several truck loads of new clothing that will be ‘winging’ its way to support people in need in the Ukraine.

‘Chan’ has always had an ethos of giving where he can, the successful Irlam businessman donating the thousands of items of clothing including shirts, jackets, bodywarmers and jeans in the name of Irlam Rotary Club where he has been a valuable member for a few years.

Chan is pictured with Irlam Rotary President Tony Beckett and fellow Rotarians Vice-president Jane Williams, Secretary Gill McLaughlin and Bernard Cocker from the International Aid Charity, helping to load the container load of clothing into one of the four, full truck loads.

The goods have been donated to the International Aid Trust based in Chorley that Chan has been supporting for many years, with the charity first started by Bernard Cocker in 1991.

Bernard himself a former very successful businessman started the Charity after being unfulfilled and after a conversation with a friend whilst sat on his doorstep, had a vision of heaven and a dream of making a real difference and has not looked back since.

Over the years the International Aid Charity under the guidance of CEO and Founder Bernard have provided more than £300 million pounds worth of aid and helped around the World in more than 50 nations, including funding a primary school and academy in Sierre Leone.

Irlam Rotary Club President Tony Beckett said, “Chan does amazing work, quietly in the background, we are very proud to be able to be involved today. Chan is a credit not only to himself and his family but also to the entire Rotary World. Well, done Chan.”

Chan added, “We can all make a difference in our own way. But making that difference is what is important. I have known Bernard for many years and his charity does great work around the World. Being a Rotarian is all about ‘Service Above Self’ and helping good causes locally, nationally and internationally, something we are always striving to do at the Rotary Club of Irlam.”
