GMP's Traffic Division used a tactical ramming method to knock a illegal motorcyclist from his bike on Park Road in Swinton yesterday evening (Tuesdays 6th April), and it was all caught on video camera.   3. Santander has announced that it is to close 111 branches up and down the country by the end of August this year and two branches in Salford are facing the axe. The Spanish-owned money lender said that the 'majority' of branches facing closure were under three miles from another Santander branch, with the furthest being just five miles away.   7. Police are appealing for information after a teenager was stabbed in Salford. Officers were called to reports of a disturbance on Cemetery Road in Swinton around 10.20pm last night (Tuesday 12 January 2021). A 15-year-old boy later presented at hospital with a stab wound and at this time it is believed his injuries were sustained in the earlier disturbance. At around 2pm on Monday 31 August 2020 police were called to reports that a man, aged in his 40's, had been assaulted at Swinton Car Wash on East Lancashire Road. Andrew Pierce (15/11/1962), of Buchannan Street, Swinton, and Ernie Wilkes (07/04/1987), of Leinster Road, Swinton, were jailed yesterday (28 September 2020) at Manchester Crown Court. Stewart Thompson, 73, has sadly passed away at his home address on Melbourne Street, Swinton on 14 September 2020. Police say that there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
