  1. Drivers are being urged to avoid the area around the junction between the M602 and Regent Road after a serious vehicle smash this evening. Police were called at around 10:30pm to reports of an accident having taken place between junctions 2 & 3 of the M602. The Eastbound carriage way has been closed and traffic diversions are in place. Emergency services, including Police, NWAS and GMFRS are currently on scene to deal with the situation. Traffic is currently being diverted around the area with two lanes of regent road closed.   2. Police are investigating after a fire tore through a student accommodation office on Seaford Rd in Lower Broughton at around 10:45pm last night (Sunday 6th September). It is understood that a witness has claimed to have seen two men driving along on a black moped carrying a large bottle before hearing a smash of glass shortly before the fire broke out.   3. Three people escaped with their lives after a fire raged through a semi-detached home in Walkden late on Monday (13th Aug). The blaze is thought to have started at around 11am on the first floor of the Lakeside Avenue home, which led to one man having to jump from a first floor window to escape, breaking his ankle in doing so. Surrounding homes were checked to ensure the fire had not spread to them and two of the three casualties were taken to hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.   7. Three fire engines, from Agecroft, Eccles and Farnworth, were called out at 3.11pm on Thursday, May 4, after a fire broke out in a beauty salon in Moorside Road, Swinton. Wearing breathing apparatus and using a hose reel, thermal imagine cameral and positive pressure fan, firefighters tackled the fire which was located on the first floor of the property.
