Swinton Lions Community Sports Foundation achieved a significant milestone with its first 7-a-side Rugby League Festival, held at Folly Lane ARLFC in Pendlebury. The event featured twelve teams from local primary schools, comprising children from years three and four, and was the culmination of a six-week coaching program. Over 300 youngsters participated, with a notable 50% being girls. The festival not only highlighted emerging rugby talent but also strengthened community bonds, generating excitement and engagement among both participants and spectators.
The festival’s success underscores the foundation’s commitment to promoting rugby league and encouraging youth participation in sports. The positive response from the community reflects the foundation’s efforts in fostering a love for the game among the younger generation. As a result, Swinton Lions Foundation looks forward to hosting more such events to build on this momentum and continue supporting grassroots rugby league development
