Swinton Lions have announced the immediate departure of half-back Declan Patton. This decision comes after an approach from another club, leading to discussions between Swinton, Patton, and the interested club. The Lions concluded that it was in the best interest of all parties to allow Patton to leave, parting on good terms.
Despite his brief tenure at Swinton, Patton’s impact was noteworthy. He joined the Lions in December 2023 after stints with Warrington Wolves, Salford Red Devils, and Bradford Bulls. In his short time with Swinton, Patton’s skills were evident, as he played a crucial role in recent matches. Notably, during a game against Batley Bulldogs, Patton added conversions and set up tries, showcasing his playmaking abilities.
The club expressed its disappointment at Patton’s departure, acknowledging the likely disappointment among fans. However, the Board, head coach Alan Kilshaw, the staff, and the players have called for unity and support as they prepare for an important match against Barrow on Sunday and for the rest of the season.
Swinton Lions wished Patton the best in his future endeavors, emphasizing their appreciation for his contributions during his time with the club. As the team looks ahead, they urge supporters to continue rallying behind the Lions in their upcoming challenges.
