TILT AVAILABLE FOR SELECTION AGAIN AFTER ONE MATCH BAN AS THE AMMIES HEAD TO BARROW THIS SATURDAY

Goal Keeper Alex Cairns maintains that Salford City need to focus on themselves ahead of Saturday’s trip to Barrow in Sky Bet League Two.

The Ammies picked up a fourth league win in six on Tuesday night away at Doncaster Rovers, Matt Smith’s hat-trick earning a 3-0 win in Yorkshire.

Now Salford hit the road for the second time this week and head up the M6 to Cumbria, to face a Barrow side unbeaten at home so far in 2023-24.

But the Ammies are enjoying their best run of form this season, and the captain believes that if his side can implement their game plan then they will give themselves a good chance of three points at the SO Legal Stadium.

Speaking on the Ammies Youtube Channel - Alex Cairns, said:

“Delighted with the clean sheet [on Tuesday], a lot of the work we’ve been doing in training has been leading towards trying to get more clean sheets.

"Obviously we play very open football, we play really good football, and we’ve been trying to nail down that we score goals, but we also keep the door shut at the back end. To do that at Doncaster, a big club, good fanbase, to do that there was good and all the work in the previous weeks came to fruition there. If we can back that up this weekend that would be ideal.

“Everyone has home pitches and we’ve got to play to that pitch, whether that be at our home or at somebody else’s, so it’s more of a learning for us as we go on. We shouldn’t worry about the pitch dimensions it should be what we do on and off the ball, but if we do what we can do on and off the ball then I’d like to think we’ll win more games than we don’t.

“It’s more of an understanding that we’re going here, we need to do this, what can we do to implement our game plan on them."

Last season’s meetings were tight, both ending 1-1, but Salford overall have a good record against The Bluebirds. In eight games the Ammies have won four to Barrow’s one, which was at Holker Street in December 2018.

Tickets are only available to buy online from Barrow, and there is a price increase on the day.

If you can’t join the team in Cumbria there is live match commentary available to listen to for supporters in the UK, for £2.50. International fans can buy a match pass for £10 to watch the game, which includes club commentary, replays and graphics.
