A GOALLESS DRAW BUT THE AMMIES MAINTAIN THEIR UNBEATEN RECORD AGAINST BARROW

    SHARE |

The goals may not have been hitting the back of the net like in their last match but they have maintained their unbeaten record against Barrow in the Football League with a 0-0 draw this afternoon at The SO Legal Stadium.

The Ammies had a good share of the possession, but failed to get a shot on target. The closest they came in the first half was of the chest of Ethan Ingram which floated across goal, while substitute Matthew Lund twice frustratingly put the ball wide of the net in the last 15 minutes.

Barrow did not fare much better and should have broken the deadlock in the first half when Dom Telford's shot from the top of the box came off the post and off Alex Cairns' back, but the captain recovered to claw the ball off the line.

14 minutes in and Ingram was in prime position to bag a goal after John sent the ball to the back post but it was not to be and his touch went wide of the post.

A header from Ray goes wide across the goal mouth at the 30 minute mark.

Half time and the whistle blew after just 1 minute of added time.

After the break the lads were back out on the pitch and seeking those goals but sadly none were forthcoming.

Barrows Elliot Newby, with an assist from Dominic Telford right footed a shot from the centre of the box which went close, but missed the top right corner.

66 minutes of the match played and Salford make 2 substitutions following a substitution from Barrow who brought Gerard Garner replaces Dominic Telford. Salford swap out Ethan Ingram for Kelly N'Mai and bring on Lund to replace Watson, both teams looking to capitalise on rested legs and fresh energy.

Just 3 minutes later and it is change on the pitch again as Bolton is sent back to the benches to be replaced by Tilt who is back from a 1 match suspension, sadly even this was not enough to change the teams chances.

Despite several close calls the end of the match grew closer as City looked to get a shot on target and into the back of the net.

6 minutes added on for extra time and a last ditch attempt from N'Mai in the final blows of the match with a left footed shot from the left side of the box bit it's too high and not to be.

Salford fail to break Barrows defences, the ref blew his whistle and that was that, a few disappointed faced as it's game over.

The Ammies return to Salford with just a single point but at least it is a point and not a loss, they can still hold their heads up high on the team coach home for a job well done,  their unbeaten record maintained.

Onwards to the next challenge, Manchester United Under 21's at home in a Halloween showdown at the Peninsula Stadium this coming Tuesday 31st October with kick off at 19:30.
