    SALFORD SCHOOLGIRLS LAUNCH THEIR FIRST CITY TEAM IN 110 YEARS

    Salford Schools FA have now launched their first girls representative side for the first time in 110 years.

    Over 60 girls have attended trials for the team drawn from Y9 and Y10 girls in Salford High Schools.

    The squad is now down to 30 girls who will represent the city in the English Schools national competitions, the Northwest League and Yorkshire league.

    As a prelude to the season the girls have hosted a visiting team from Mission Viejo California They also competed in a tournament entered by a number of other well established girls teams where they reached the semi finals.

    Co-Managers Paul Johnston and Jess Ellis, said:

    “We are delighted with the progress the girls have made since coming together earlier this year and we are looking forward to the challenges ahead”
