    Junior Section Match Details 18th/19th January 2020.

    Celebrating their first win of the season were Beechfield United U/11’s Lightning (9v9) who beat Manchester Maccabi Wolves 5-4. On a heavy pitch twice Lightning recovered from two goals down to win a game they had dominated for long periods. The teams were level at 4-4 but Beechy snatched victory with virtually the last kick of the game. Goals for Lightning came via Man of the Match Sean Cosgrove (hat-trick) George Rowbotham and Jai Devani-White.

    Another Beechy team securing their first win this season were the U/16’s Sunday team. United travelled to play Whalley Range with three regular defenders missing but after leading 1-0 at the break stepped up a gear in the second half and secured a 6-1 victory thanks to goals from Mathew Bennett (hat trick) Fernley Davies (2) and Jack Broadie.

    After their NBJFL fixture was called off Beechy U/15’s Thunder arranged a friendly match with Tiki Taka FC a team from the Bolton Bury and District League. Thunder were always on top in this game and were guaranteed a 3-1 victory courtesy of two goals by Dominic Lawton and one from Konstantin Hristova.

    The in-form U/14’s Tornadoes maintained their winning streak on Sunday when they beat Manchester Maccabi Jaguars 7-1 away. In foggy and cold conditions Beechy produced a superb all-round display and voted their Man of the Match was Bradley Cooper who scored five goals. Also on target for the Tornadoes were Charlie Mulvenna and Jake Curry.

    Beechy U/13’s Lightning suffered their first defeat in eight games when they were beaten 6-3 at home by Astley and Tyldesley. Jake Barrington, Charlie Harris and Kyle Stafford fired home the goals for Lightning who’s best football in this Division 3 match came in the second half. Liam Peers was named Lightning’s Star Player.

    At home to Barr Hill Hearts the U/13’s Typhoon produced a below-par performance and ended up on the wrong end of a 3-1 score line. Typhoon’s consolation goal came via Jamie Withington from the penalty spot after a foul on Milonga Mututa. Voted Beechy’s Man of the Match was full back Daniel Hesketh.

    FC Bridgewater were the U/10’s Tornadoes opponents in Beechy’s latest Salford and Districts League Blue Group game. The match produced nine goals and goal scorers for the Tornadoes were Logan McFeely, Martin Cholakov and Oscar Mather (penalty)

    Remy Bessonies was the U/10’s Lightning Man of the Match following the Yellow Group home game against Monton Sports. In the opening ten minutes of this fixture Lightning played well but they couldn’t sustain the momentum.

    Playing on a 4G Astroturf Pitch United’s U/9’s Storm shared six goals with AFC Burnden Park. In the Red Group Beechy trailed by the odd goal at half time but there overall performance improved in the second half. Connor O’Sullivan (2) and Roman Sanji got the goals.

    Thanks to an excellent all-round display Beechy U/8’s Storm rediscovered the winning formula. Daniel Wharton, Aiden Gradwell and Robert Wagner created chance after chance at one end whilst Brody Burns, Patrik Doherty and Sophie Price kept opponents Winton Wanderers at bay at the other. Storm’s Man of the Match award went to Jacob Wood.

    All other games in the Junior Section were postponed.
