The performance of the weekend belonged to Beechfield United U/10’s Tornadoes who celebrated their first win since September 2019 following their Supplementary Competition home game against Flixton Junior Wildcats. Beechy were three goals down at half time but they produced a truly magnificent fightback and scored eight goals in a fifteen minute spell to win the game. Man of the Match Stewart Kay, Eddie McDonagh, Josh Beddows, Oscar Mather and Logan McFeely got the goals.
Also in the U/10’s Supplementary Competition United’s Lightning team met Swinton Tigers and unfortunately Beechy who didn’t produce their best form lost this away game. Lightning’s Man of the Match award went to Jeano Baker.
For the second time in seven days the U/11’s Lightning (9v9) were in action against Deans Youth Tigers. On this occasion Lightning met their opponents in the Supplementary Competition and were rewarded with a quick winning double. For his outstanding performance defender Ben Latham was voted Man of the Match and on target with the goals were Jai Devani-White and the highly impressive George Rowbotham.
Beechy U/12’s Tornadoes met neighbours Moorside Rangers Reds at home in the Supplementary Cup and the teams shared an unusual 0-0 score line at half time. In the second half Rangers took the lead but Oliver Percival equalised after a great move between JJ Lowery and Joel Thorndyke. The tie finished 1-1 and following the dreaded penalty kick decider Rangers won the shoot-out 4-2.
On a heavy pitch the U/12’s Hurricanes (9v9) looked both focused and alert in their Supplementary Cup home game with Davyhulme Park but failed to add the finish to a glut of clear cut chances. Eventually Beechy took the lead through Ethan Mangwiro then following a another superb move Dylan Walker put the Hurricanes 2-0 up at the break. Beechy relaxed their grip on the game slightly in the second half and Davyhulme Park managed to reduce the arrears. Tanatswa Chirwa received the Star Player award.
Suffering defeat for the first time in five games were Beechy U/13’s Lightning who were away to Prestwich Tigers in the Supplementary Cup. Man of the Match went to Joel Idjusyi and on target with the consolation goal for Lightning who lost 4-1 was Jake Barrington.
Playing away against Bolton Lads Club the U/14’s Storm had to adapt to the hosts artificial surface and despite having the wind in their favour in the first half struggled to create enough decent chances. Bolton Lads who led 2-0 at half time added four more goals in the second half to claim a 6-0 victory. Luke Bedforth was Storm’s Best Player.
Overcoming difficult conditions the U/15’s Storm were rewarded with a 4-3 away win over Middleton Lads Black. Prince Idusuyi, Ben Garlick and Man of the Match Zion Agbiji were the goal scorers for Storm in this NBJFL Premiership Division fixture.
The U/15’s Thunder Championship Division away game with Unsworth Juniors turned out to be a bad day at the office. Struggling on a poor pitch Thunder had limited chances throughout the game and were beaten 4-0. There was a gutsy performance from Jacob Lacey but it was Taylor O’Brien who was named Man of the Match.
In their Bolton Bury and District League Section D home game the U/16’s Tornadoes were held to a 1-1 draw by local rivals Moorside Rangers Blue. Beechy took the lead through Billy Wadeson but Rangers equalised with ten minutes to go. Reda Alhumaidi was the Tornadoes Man of the Match for his total commitment.
Billy Wadeson was also on target for the U/16’s Sunday team when he scored both goals in a 2-1 home win over Hough End Griffins. In this Timperley and District League Division 3 fixture Beechy held a 2-0 lead until the visitors scored a late consolation.
Involved in a twelve goal thriller in the Supplementary Competition with Majic Sports were the U/8’s Storm. Man of the Match could have been anyone of eight players but Robert Wagner got the award while goal of the game was scored by Jacob Wood after his solo run and powerful finish.
