The in-house U/11’s 9v9 derby game between Beechfield United Storm and Hurricanes was a real end to end game full of both pace and power. Both teams contributed to a highly entertaining Division 3 match and it was the Hurricanes who took the three points with a 3-2 victory. Nicholas Brito-Walmsley (2) and Kane Wood fired in the goals for the Hurricanes who’s Man of the Match was Mikey Munden while Storm who named Joshua Kilfoyle as their Star Player replied with two goals from Michael Walsh.
In the Bolton Bury and District League a last minute goal by Jack Brodie earned the U/16’s Tornadoes a 2-1 home win over Lostock Junction. The visitors led 1-0 at the break in this Section D fixture but Reda Alhumaidi netted Tornadoes equaliser and the match was evenly balanced until Jack’s last gasp winner. Callum Rhodes was Beechy’s Man of the Match.
Charlie Molloy was named the U/15’s Storm’s Man of the Match following their Premiership Division home game with Oxford Grove. In the North Bury Junior League Storm who were 1-0 down at half time eventually suffered a 3-0 defeat.
Also in the North Bury Junior League Beechy U/15’s Thunder played Barr Hill Hearts and produced moments of quality football against their local rivals in this Championship Division fixture. Dominic Lawton with a contender for goal of the season, Max Shaw and Jacob Lacey were on target for Thunder who unfortunately lost the match 5-3. Following a well accomplished performance Beechy’s Man of the Match was goalkeeper Reiss Miller.
At home to second placed outfit Bolton United the U/14’s Storm took the lead in this Bolton Bury and District Section C encounter thanks to Harry Patterson. The visitors equalised following a free kick then scored again and took their one goal advantage into the second half. After the break Pedro Filipe-Costa made it 2-2 and both teams had numerous chances but it was Bolton United who snatched a 3-2 victory with the last kick of the match. Jude Bedforth had a very good game and was voted Storm’s Man of the Match.
Following their fourth successive home game Beechy U/13’s Lightning beat Prestwich Dragons 4-0. In a low-key affair Lightning were the better team despite not playing to their full potential. Kyle Stafford received the Man of the Match award and goals for Beechy came via Jake Barrington, Charlie Harris, Cody Brady and Daniel Williams.
Involved in a rollercoaster game with neighbours Moorside Rangers Black were the U/13’s Typhoon who found themselves 3-1 down at the break. Typhoon fought their way back in the second half to make it 3-3 but Rangers scored from a highly contentious free kick and added another late goal that gave them a flattering 5-3 victory. Goals for Beechy came courtesy of the excellent Reece James (2) and Sonny O’Brien and for his full hearted performance Cole Winstanley collected the Best Player award.
In the Green Group the U/11’s Lightning won their second game in succession in the Salford and Districts League. Beechy who were away to Deans Tigers conceded the opening goal but soon found an equaliser and the teams went in at half time on level terms. The recent introduction of George Rowbotham and Matt Cox have completed Lightning’s team jigsaw and adding three more goals in the second half Beechy were guaranteed a fully deserved victory. Daniel Robinson, Jai Devani-White, Daniel Keene and Matt Cox fired in the goals and after an impressive defensive performance Eesa Afzal was name Man of the Match.
Oliver Hall, Thomas Robinson, Alfie Rostron, Reece Cartwright and Man of the Match Oliver Williams got the goals for the U/11’s Hurricanes who overcame difficult conditions to celebrate a victory over Prestwich Lightning. Manager Ben Robinson had a full strength squad to choose from and on a 3G Astroturf pitch Beechy were worth winners of this Blue Group match against their newly promoted opponents.
In the U/10’s Yellow Group Beechy Lightning beat Barr Hill Hearts following a good overall performance. Man of the Match Deenraj Singh and Harvey Lancaster scored the goals.
Against Swinton Lions the U/10’s Tornadoes played the first half of this Blue Group fixture uphill and faced strong opposition. Beechy played much better in the second half and were rewarded with a consolation goal when Oliver Mather scored from the penalty spot.
Thanks to another great performance the U/8’s Storm recovered from a slow start to win their Yellow Group home game with Winton Titans. In attack Oliver Cooper, Jacob Wood and Aiden Gradwell combined really well with good support from Daniel Wharton, Patrik Doherty and Robert Wagner. There was some superb defending from Thomas Brady and Sophie Price and the pick of the goals came via Oliver Cooper.
