Salford based The Plantisserie were part of a delegation of entrepreneurs and small business owners celebrating Greater Manchester’s self-employed community at the 2nd Festival of Enterprise in Manchester city centre on Thursday.

The event demonstrated the potential for self-employed people to revolutionise the local economy and their own finances.

Attended by over 250 people, the event was a celebration of start-ups, self-employment and entrepreneurship, proudly championing Greater Manchester as the ultimate destination for launching and expanding your business.

EnterprisingYou, GM Business Growth Hub’s flagship support programme for the self-employed and startups in the region hosted the event.

“We’ve supported over 4000 entrepreneurs and small businesses across Greater Manchester since 2020 and the Festival of Enterprise was a fantastic celebration of this.
“I’ve been a small business owner myself, and it fills me with hope and ambition so see so many amazing people and businesses coming out to show what they can do. It was brilliant to meet and engage with them and to hear all about why they set up their businesses and how passionate they are.
“Self-employed people make up 10% of the UK workforce, but it can feel very lonely. Today was an excellent way to bring people together, connect and celebrate.”

Yvonne Sampson, Head of Enterprise for GM Business Growth Hub

The Plantisserie exhibited at the event alongside other local businesses in a marketplace at New Century on Thursday. They joined other small businesses alongside larger Greater Manchester success stories like tech unicorn Matillion and music platform GigPig, as well as global giant Microsoft.

The Plantisserie is a Vegan Micro-Bakery in Salford. Charlotte Lock, The Founder of The Plantisserie spent many years working as a professional Pastry Chef & Baker in the hospitality industry before turning her hand to her own project in Autumn 2022.
