Salford City’s prolific striker, Callum Hendry, has completed a permanent transfer to Milton Keynes Dons. Hendry, who joined the Ammies in 2022, made a significant impact during his tenure at The Peninsula Stadium, scoring 23 goals in 79 appearances.
Hendry’s time at Salford City is highlighted by his remarkable end to the 2022-23 season, where he netted nine goals in the last 14 games, propelling the team into the League Two play-offs for the first time. He ended his debut season with a career-best 14 goals.
The 26-year-old Scottish striker, who began his career at Blackburn Rovers and had notable spells at St Johnstone, Aberdeen, and Kilmarnock, expressed his gratitude to the fans.
Hendry said in his parting message:
“I want to thank the fans for how they were with me, they were brilliant from when I scored my first goal against Mansfield at the start of the season that I signed, the song, how they all went mental after that goal against Stockport, they’ve been really good!”
Hendry joins an MK Dons side looking to bolster their attacking options after narrowly missing out on promotion last season. His transfer comes amid interest from other clubs, including Burton Albion and Motherwell, but it is the Dons who have secured his services for the upcoming campaign.
The Ammies have extended their best wishes to Callum Hendry and his family, thanking him for his memorable contributions and wishing him success in his new journey with Milton Keynes Dons.
