Several Youth Parliament members have already gone on to engage in local politics and make a huge impact with Laura Edwards being elected as the youngest ever councillor in Salford after a spectacular win in for Labour Walkden South during the 2018 local elections.
The following May former Youth Mayor Lewis Nelson went on to win for Labour in Cadishead despite facing a gruelling challenge from Core Independent candidate Dave Pike.
Since being elected both have championed their local areas, Laura most recently just recently when she lambasted the decision of ITV Soap Coronation Street for their disgusting arson story-line.
Lewis has maintained his position against building on local Peat Lands around his area and remains a keen environmentalist who has spoken out over plans to develop on greenbelt land.
Both still continue to fight for youth services to this day.
The Youth Parliament is an amazing thing which helps young people across Salford engage with politics.
