  • BY-ELECTION TO BE HELD IN CLAREMONT AFTER THE TRAGIC LOSS OF COUNCILLOR JOE MURPHY

    A by-election has been called to find a new Councillor for Salford’s Claremont ward.

    Following the death in May of the much loved and respected of Councillor Joseph Murphy, a council by-election has been called for the Claremont area.

    The election will be held on Thursday 5 October 2017, with the count held at Salford Civic Centre from 10pm.

    Nominations for candidates must be submitted by 4pm on Friday 8 September 2017

    “The by-election has been called to find a new councillor to replace the late Councillor Murphy.

    “In the coming weeks officers will be making arrangements for the by election and sending out polling cards to those registered to vote in the Claremont ward.

    “Anyone not currently registered to vote has until 19 September 2017 to do so. This is your opportunity to have your say on who represents your community and views on the council and make your mark in Salford.”

    Joe a well respected Councillor sadly passed away in May leaving the position open.
