  • WALKDEN SOUTH WILL TAKE TO THE POLLS THIS COMING THURSDAY

    Salford City Council

The election for the Walkden South ward had been postponed by the Returning Officer Jim Taylor after the unfortunate death of a candidate.

George Andrew Darlington (aged 68) was standing as the Conservative Party candidate but sadly took ill and later died at the end of April.

As a result the ward did not get a chance to elect at the same time as the rest of Salford and so a new date was set for Thursday the 20th of June.

Polling Stations will open around the ward from 7am and remain open until 10pm, with the results announced once the votes have been counted later that night.

The five candidates contesting the ward seat are,

    John Paul Atley, Liberal Democrats

    Joshua Mark Brooks, Labour Party

David Simon Cawdrey, The Conservative Party

    Thomas Matthew Dylan, Green Party

    Tony Green, UK Independence Party

If you are registered to vote it should tell you where your local polling station is, if you have not received a polling card you may still be on the list and eligible to cast your vote. You can find out the closest station to you via the councils link bellow. Simply add your post code or street address to the box and hit search.
