Oliver Partington will join Catalans Dragons for the 2025 season after his current contract with Salford Red Devils expires. The 25-year-old loose forward signed with the Reds in 2022 from Wigan Warriors and quickly became a beloved figure, earning the Players’ Player of the Year award in 2023.
Reflecting on his time at Salford, Partington expressed his gratitude to the coaching staff and teammates, saying:
“I would firstly like to thank Paul, Kurt, Krisnan and all the staff behind the scenes for their efforts in developing me as a player, I’ve really enjoyed my time with them. I would also like to thank the lads I’ve played with over the past two years, they’ve been class, I’ve made some friends for life.”
Despite having made eleven appearances so far in 2024, Partington is determined to leave on a high note, adding:
“Lastly, I would like to thank the fans for their continued support, I’ll be forever grateful for them and would love to leave them with a season to remember this year. Thank you.”
Salford’s Club Director, Paul Trainor, praised Partington’s contributions, stating:
“We would like to thank Oli for his contribution to the club over the past two seasons. Since his arrival, he has consistently embodied what our club stands for in his approach on and off the field, both as a player and a person. We wish him all the best for the future in his career.”
Catalans Dragons are enthusiastic about their new signing, with a club representative stating:
“Oliver Partington is a significant addition to our squad. His experience and dedication on the field will be invaluable to us as we aim for continued success in the Super League”.
Partington’s move is part of a broader strategy for Catalans Dragons, who are gearing up with several key signings to bolster their team for the upcoming seasons.
