Yesterday evening, 9th April 2025, we took a trip to Boothstown to chat with local councillor Bob Clarke and a large gathering of local residents about the unveiling of a wonderful new plinth dedicated to telling the history of the area.
In the autumn of 2024, the Boothstown Residents Association had the idea of showcasing the rich history and heritage of Boothstown. Seeking support from the Worsley Civic Trust and Boothstown Village Hall, the goal was to create an accessible and engaging plinth to be situated at Standfield Precinct Green.
After researching other local installations, the design for the plinth was developed by local builders Schofield and Sons. Local designer Leigh Walsh and M&A Brown Signs generously offered their expertise to bring the structure to life.
The project culminated in March 2025 with the erection of the plinth, made possible through the time and services donated by these local businesses, a grant from Salford City Council, Boothstown Community Centre and the support of our local councillors. The Residents Association hopes the community will enjoy exploring the fascinating history of Boothstown.
Vincent Nash, Neighbourhood Manager for Salford City Council, commended the Residents Association for their dedication, stating:
“It is inspiring to see local residents devoting their time and effort to improve the community through this and other local initiatives.”
