Salford City FC has announced that 33-year-old midfielder Matthew Lund has agreed to a one-year contract extension, extending his stay with the club until the summer of 2025. The news was confirmed on the club’s official website on June 28, 2024.
Lund, who joined Salford City in May 2021, has been an integral part of the team over the past three years. His experience and versatility on the pitch have made him a valuable asset for the Ammies.
Expressing his excitement about the extension, Lund said:
“When I found out they wanted to renew my contract I was dead excited and I couldn’t wait to get started.
“We’ve obviously had a long break now and I’m just looking forward to getting back into pre-season, and enjoying another season of football, so I cannot wait.
“When you come back for pre-season, you’re counting down the days until that first game, and it is great that it is here – I always like to play my first game at home, and obviously to see this stadium full will be great for the players and the staff.
“We just want to get off to a positive start and the quicker we can do that the better.”
Lund’s extension is a positive development for Salford City, reflecting the club’s confidence in his abilities and the important role he plays within the team. Fans will undoubtedly be pleased to see the experienced midfielder remain at the Peninsula Stadium for another year.
