Manchester Airport Reopens After Power Outage Chaos

Manchester Airport has resumed normal operations after a power outage caused significant disruption in Terminals 1 and 2 this morning (Sunday 23rd June). The outage, attributed to a fault at an external substation, left passengers stranded, flights delayed, and created long queues at check-in counters.

The incident, which began just before 8 AM, led to scenes of chaos as travelers reported missed flights and a lack of communication from airport staff. Some passengers described the situation as “absolute chaos,” with flights taking off without them and little information provided about the delays. One traveler recounted arriving at 7 AM for a 10 AM flight to Tenerife, only to miss it due to the prolonged wait to check in luggage.

A spokesperson for the airport declared that it was ‘business as usual’:

“We are back up and running now. Flights are going as they should be. Check-in has resumed as it should be. It’s all moving as it should be.”

Despite the frustrations, airport officials announced that power was restored later in the morning. Efforts are underway to minimize the residual impact and return services to normal as quickly as possible but for the most part, things are back to normal.

A spokesperson from Manchester Airport apologized for the inconvenience and advised passengers to check with their airlines for the most up-to-date information on their flights.
