Junior Police Community Support Officers (PCSO’s) are once more patrolling around their school after the initiative has been reintroduced at an Irlam School.
The Junior PCSO’s Project has been re-introduced by Irlam Police Community Support Officer Mark Fitzgerald, keen to bring the scheme back after a break of several years.
Mark said, “Junior PCSO’s are students from the primary school where they are based and help with things like parents parking on double yellow lines or parking inappropriately around the school at various times of the day. The scheme works fantastically well, with parents thinking twice where to park when dropping off and picking up their children at school.
The scheme also helps students and their families at the schools involved, to learn more about the roles of the Police and break down potential barriers that children might be wary of when approaching and engaging with the Police.”

Gill, Secretary of Irlam Rotary Club added, “A fantastic idea, that Club members were delighted to be able to encourage with some funding and support. The Junior PCSO project is a great idea and will hopefully be something that can be rolled out at other schools in Irlam and Cadishead.”
