Critchley Community Hub in is a popular and innovative community hub and garden café located in Swinton, Salford which is managed by Age UK Salford. The hub has a community café supported by a dedicated chef, shop, IT learning area and flourishing garden. It hosts regular weekly social and learning groups which play a big part in its success.
The centre manager is responsible for the overall management and efficient running of the centre and would work alongside existing staff and volunteers. The manager plays a key role in ensuring that grant income and fundraising opportunities are maximised to support continued operations and the growth of the centre.
The successful applicant will possess excellent interpersonal skills, a ‘can do’ attitude, be flexible and entrepreneurial and with an inclusive and supportive approach to older people.
To take responsibility for the overall management and efficient running of Age UK Salford’s innovative and popular community hub in Swinton. The centre comprises of a community café, retail area, Information and Advice provision, IT training, learning and recreational activities and a delightful garden cafe. Working alongside existing staff and volunteers there will be an ongoing need to develop, recruit and support volunteers who are essential to the centre’s success.
Hobby and learning groups play a big part in the continued and growing success of Critchley House. These include a creative writing group, local history group, gardening group and craft group. New groups were created this year to supplement the already successful ones, this saw the introduction of genealogy, Spanish for beginners, Next steps IT and photography taster sessions.
The successful applicant will possess excellent interpersonal skills, a ‘can do’ attitude, be flexible and entrepreneurial. A knowledge of Salford and its people and an empathetic, inclusive and supportive approach to older people and their requirements will be an essential requirement.
Other requirements for this role are excellent communication and writing skills, familiarity with and successful in, writing funding applications and you must possess the ability to seek out fundraising and income generation opportunities to help support continued operations and growth of the centre.
