Today we had a meeting with Tony Shep and his partner Tracey in The Ilirain Greek Cafe as they told us about their truly magnificent garden at their home on Stafford Road, Eccles which they are throwing open to the public on Saturday the 16th August, 2025 and it’s all for charity.

Working with the National Garden Scheme an organisation which is a charity fund raising scheme founded in 1927 it involves giving access to privately owned gardens of quality and interest, Tony and Tracey will be doing just that and you are in for a treat if you love tropical plants and gardens.

They both obviously share a love of gardening and started on this project to renovate the garden which once a tennis court in a privately owned house which gives an indication of it’s size in 2019 and have transformed it into something magical.

We had planned to film the garden today, but typically rain stopped play, however we are going back in a few weeks to show you the splendour and the wonderful varieties of plants there, Palm Tree’s, Borinda Papyrifora (look it up, I had to) Schefflera Plants known as the Umbrella Plant, Woodland Jungle Plants and so much more.

This is the second time they have opened the gardens to the public, last year they raised £3K through the sale of plants, tea, coffee and admission fee, which went to kidney research, this year all monies raised will go to, Maggie’s at Christie Hospital, who provide support for people with cancer and their families and friends.

I am so looking forward to seeing the gardens in the next few weeks and I would urge you to see them on the open day Saturday 16th August,12.30pm until 4.30pm, dig deep it’s for a really worthwhile charity.

If you cant make the 16th August, Tony has informed that they will be having an additional opening day on Saturday 6th September, no excuse not to attend!
