The doors to Salford’s polling stations opened at 7am this morning (24th June) as the United Kingdom votes to elect its next government and shape the country’s future.
If you don’t know where your local polling station is then Salford Council have provided a handy postcode checker on their website to help you locate it.
This year the constituency boundaries have changed due to a review from the boundary commission, which means that some areas will be casting their votes for MP’s from both Bury and Bolton.
Meanwhile, Salford has two new constituencies:
Worsley and Eccles constituency, made up of these seven Salford City Council wards – Barton and Winton, Boothstown and Ellenbrook, Cadishead and Lower Irlam, Eccles, Higher Irlam and Peel Green, Swinton and Wardley, Worsley and Westwood Park.
Salford constituency, made up of these nine Salford City Council wards – Blackfriars and Trinity, Broughton, Claremont, Ordsall, Pendlebury and Clifton, Pendlebury and Charlestown, Quays, Swinton Park, Weaste and Seedley.
In order to vote in the 2024 General Election you are required to have already registered to vote, either in person at a polling station or via postal vote. You must also be over the age of 18 and have a valid Photo ID.
The polling booths close at 10pm this evening and the votes will be verified and counted this evening at the Salford Community Stadium in Barton, Eccles, with the results expected between 4-5am in the early morning of Friday 5th July.
