Firefighters called after a bus caught on fire in peel green

Firefighters were called to an outbreak of a fire on a Diamond Bus as it passed through Peel Green in Eccles yesterday evening (22nd July).

At around 9:30pm, emergency services received a call to say that a single decker bus was on fire on Liverpool Road in Peel Green, Eccles, two crews were dispatched from both Eccles and Stretford to extinguish the flames.

Fortunately there were no reports of any injuries and the driver was able to escape the bus via the front doors.

It is not clear as to how the bus came to be on fire and investigations continue.

A (GMFRS) spokesperson, said: 

“Shortly after 9:30pm last night (Monday 22 July), two fire engines from Stretford and Eccles fire stations were called to attend a vehicle fire involving a single decker bus on Liverpool Road, Eccles.

“Crews arrived quickly and used two hose reels to extinguish the fire. Firefighters made the area safe before departing after approximately an hour at the scene.”
