In a significant operation, officers from the Salford Challenger Disruption Team seized £40,000 in cash and over a kilogram of Class B drugs during early morning raids in Eccles yesterday. The coordinated efforts, which took place on Liverpool Road and Hallsworth Road, also resulted in the confiscation of a luxury vehicle, believed to have been purchased with proceeds from criminal activities.

A man in his 40s and a woman in her 30s were arrested on suspicion of drug offences and money laundering. Both suspects remain in custody for further questioning as the investigation continues.

Detective Inspector Rebecca McGuigan of the Challenger Organised Crime Unit expressed the significance of the operation, stating:

“Drugs cause an untold amount of harm in our community, and to get over one kilogram of Class B off the streets is a really positive result for us. The removal of this substantial quantity of drugs is a massive stride in our efforts to disrupt the activities of organised criminals profiting from drug sales.”

The operation highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug-related crime in the Greater Manchester area. The successful seizure of drugs and cash underscores the importance of community involvement in such operations.

Detective Inspector McGuigan, added:

“We rely on information provided by the public.

“I encourage anyone with concerns or information about drug-related activities in their area to come forward and speak with the police directly or contact Crimestoppers anonymously.”

Residents with information about suspicious activities can report by calling 101, submitting details online at www.gmp.police.uk, or contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111.

The early morning raids mark a significant victory in the fight against organised crime in Salford, as authorities continue to work towards making the community safer for all.
