Barton Lane in Eccles has been closed this afternoon Monday (21st July) following an incident which saw the roof sliced off a double decker bus during yet another in a string of similar collisions with the Bridgewater Canal Bridge.
Emergency service are said to have rushed to the scene following reports that there are many injured among the passengers on the number 100 bus.
The GMAS air ambulance was seen landing close by in order to help ferry the injured to hospital via air if needed.
Paramedics could be seen attending to injured passengers both within the bus itself and also on the ground nearby, it has been revealed that 15 people have been taken to hospital having sustained injuries.
This is far from the first time that a double decker bus has been involved in a collision with the low hung bridge. In April 2023 a double decker bus operated by Diamond Buses suffered a similar fate, although thankfully there were no injuries as the bus was empty at the time.
The number 100 is operated as part of the Bee Network and is in service between Manchester and Warrington with part of its route passing through Trafford and Salford.
