Rubber Ring - Wed 1 - Sat 4 November

What's On Guide

Award-winning coming of age comedy Rubber Ring tours to The Lowry Wed 1 - Sat 4 November. Written and performed by James McDermott Rubber Ringfollows a rural sexually confused teen who goes on quest to find Morrissey.

Jimmy is sixteen, sexually confused and stuck in Sheringham. He’s screwed. Well he’s not actually: that’s the problem. Where can Jimmy explore in Norfolk? Rock pools. So when pop star Morrissey comes to London, Jimmy flees to the city to try and find his hero and himself. But when Jimmy finds he's not sexually attracted to boys or girls, he's never been more sexually confused. Then Jimmy meets gender fluid Billy...

Winner of Pulse Festival’s Suitcase Prize 2017, Rubber Ring is a laugh-out-loud coming of age comedy about a Norfolk teenager’s struggle with sexual and regional identity. In 2016 it opened to rave reviews at The Pleasance Islington and this year transferred to The Tristan Bates Theatre in London’s West End prior to a national tour.
