The Northern Quarter chef from Seedley has been missing since the 2nd of July after he headed home from a shift at the El Capo restaurant where he worked.

Local News

Police descended on a small patch of woodland close to Buile Hill Park at around 8:10 am yesterday morning (9th July) after they were alerted to a body having been found by school children which appeared to be wrapped in plastic. The children were heading to school for morning lessons at the nearby Buile Hill Academy when the grisly discovery was made.

Police have now disclosed that the deceased is Northern Quarter chef Hiran Chauhan who has been missing since 10:30pm on the 2nd of July.

While formal identification is yet to take place, police believe this to be the body of 24-year-old Hiran Chuahan who was reported missing on Thursday 4 July 2019. His family have been informed.

Hiram is said to have visited the McDonald's restaurant in Piccadilly Gardens before starting his journey home via tram, CCTV footage places him at the Cornbrook stop at 11:08 pm, he then changed tram to start his journey along the Eccles line whereupon he got off at Langworthy at around 11:31pm. Police were alerted after he failed to return home as expected.

A 32 year old man from Salford has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and has been held in custody for questioning by police.

His family mounted a huge search for him in the local area and had been knocking door to door in an attempt to locate him, they also conducted an online campaign to make the public aware of his disappearance in the hope someone may have seen him.
