Police were called to a car park on the East Lancs after reports of a man being shot in the leg.

Shortly after 9pm tonight (Sunday 4 February 2018), police were called to reports that a man had been shot in a car park on East Lancashire Road in Swinton.

On arrival, officers discovered a man in his 30s who had been shot in his leg.

He has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

An investigation has been launched and enquiries are ongoing.

It has been reported that stunned diners were ushered to safety via the restaurant's back door, although we have been told that there was no panic and everyone remained calm and collected.

GMP was quick to respond and they promptly established a cordon around the area.

Anyone with information should call police on 101 quoting reference number 2053 of 04/02/2018, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
