INDECENT IMAGES OF CHILDREN FOUND ON A 'PROTECTION' WING HOUSING SEX OFFENDERS AT HMP FOREST BANK

Local News
An investigation has been launched by the GMP Sex Offender Management Unit after a number of indecent images of children were found on a protection wing of Forest Bank Prison.

The vile images are said to have been found in the possession of an inmate who is being detained on a secure wing of the prison, where sex offenders are segregated from the main prison population for their protection.

The incident was immediately reported to the police who launched an investigation on the 18th of October.

A prison source said that as yet no arrests have so far been made but investigations into how the images made there way into the prison continue.

Prison Director, Mr Matt Spencer, said,

“We can confirm that illicit items have been found following the vigilant work of our staff and we have referred this incident to the police.

”The prison has a number of 'protection wings' where sex offenders and other inmates are kept away from the main prison population over fears they may be attacked."

This latest incident comes little over three weeks after an officer was arrested on suspicion of smuggling in mobile phones into the Sodexo operated private-prison hidden inside a pair of boots.
