Leeds United has secured the permanent transfer of Ammies goalkeeper Alex Cairns, who previously joined the team on loan from Fleetwood Town in January 2023.

Cairns made an immediate impact, playing a crucial role in helping the club reach the League Two play-offs for the first time that season.

After signing a permanent deal last summer, Cairns proved his dedication and skill by playing every minute of the league matches last season, bringing his total appearances for the Ammies to 77.

In a heartfelt message to supporters, players, and staff, the 31-year-old expressed his gratitude:

“I just want to say thank you for letting me represent your club these last 18 months. I’ve loved every minute of it and I will forever watch on and hope for success for the football club!”

Salford City have extend their thanks to Alex for his contributions during his time at The Peninsula Stadium and say that they wish him the best of luck as he returns to Leeds United!
