If tales of pirates, buccaneers, buried gold, treasure maps, skulduggery, squawking parrots, plucky young cabin boys and Rum Daquiri are your thing, then your in luck.
Barton Theatre Company’s latest production is, Treasure Island, The Pantomime and having had a sneak preview I can assure you that you are in for a treat, shipmates.
Sam Davies has adapted the Robert Louis Stephenson classic into a laugh a minute romp and he also plays the dashing Captain Smollett, multi tasking.
Dan Chadwick plays the plucky young Jim Hawkins who has a knack of getting beaten up yet makes a mean Rum Daquiri, the house specialty at The Admiral Benbow Inn and onboard The Hispaniola.
I was interested to see that a Dame Roberta Crusoe the ever dependable Brian Cogswell appears in a somewhat revealing grass skirt, well it is pantomime and no doubt saucy double entendre will fly thick and fast, also Long John Silver pplayed by AAron Triplett casts a shadow with such dedication to the part he had his leg removed to get into character.
The pantomime is a family friendly show with singing and dancing to the pirate antics, so I would urge to see the show, and join in the fun and games.
Oh no, you won’t… Oh yes you will!
