On Saturday 26th April we took a to the site of the former Agecroft Pit to witness the unveiling of a plaque dedicated to former miner, entertainer and African Prince, Mr Peter Lobengula who worked at the pit for many years. So beloved was he by his fellow miners, they paid for his funeral and lined the streets with doffed caps as his funeral cortege passed by on the way to Agecroft cemetery where his mortal remains lay at rest to this day.

In the autumn of 2024, the Boothstown Residents Association had the idea of showcasing the rich history and heritage of Boothstown. Tony Flynn took a trip to Salford Museum and Art Gallery on Saturday for the launch of an exhibition of artist Liam Spencer's work entitled Irwell: Afterlife. A pictural record of the reawakening and rebound of both the river and the wildlife which lives in and around it, following the decline of industrialisation in the area.
