Officers from the Salford South East Neighbourhood team have arrested a woman in connection with the possession of two dangerous dogs following a vicious attack on a child.
The shocking incident occurred on Monday, 29th July 2024, when a 13-year-old was attacked by two out-of-control dogs at De La Salle playing fields in Salford. The child sustained significant injuries as a result of the attack and is currently receiving medical treatment.
The woman, whose identity has not yet been disclosed, remains in police custody for questioning as investigations continue. The dogs involved in the incident have been seized by police.
A spokesperson for the Salford South East Neighbourhood team stated:
“This is a deeply concerning incident, and our thoughts are with the young victim and their family. We are committed to ensuring the safety of our community and will be conducting thorough enquiries to understand the circumstances surrounding this attack.”
Local residents have expressed their anger upon viewing a video released via social media which sparked concern over the incident. In the footage, the dogs can clearly be seen following and attacking the child who tried desperately to get away from them.
We have chosen not to include the video as it contains footage of a minor.
Police are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward and assist with the investigation.
