Damage to an overhead power line between Trafford Bar and Old Trafford is causing major disruption to parts of the Metrolink overnight and is expected to continue into this morning, service changes are currently in place.

Engineers are said to be on site and attempting to rectify the situation as soon as possible.

Alternative bus services are in place as a temporary alternative and existing tickets and passes can be used for travel.

The following changes will be in place on the tram network:

  • Ashton to Piccadilly
  • East Didsbury to Firswood
  • Eccles to Media City
  • Manchester Airport to Firswood
  • Oldham Mumps to Exchange Square
  • Trafford Centre to Wharfside

No services are able to operate between Altrincham and Manchester city centre.

This is likely to affect services on Saturday 13 July. Please check back to this page for further updates.

Passengers using contactless who are unable to touch out to complete their journey are advised to ring the team tomorrow on 03000 035 035. Phones lines are open Saturday and Sunday 8am until 8pm.

The Rochdale via Oldham line is still experiencing an unplanned disruption due to a land slide.

Tickets and passes can be used on the 18, 19, 263, 281, 285, 286, 250, X50, 171, 172, 85, 86, 29, 33, 50, 53, 79 bus services.
