A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after his motorbike collided with a car during a police chase In Swinton

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested after the motorcycle he was riding upon was involved in a collision with a car as he tried to evade pursuing police during a short chase.

The accident which took place yesterday evening at around 7:30pm (Monday 8th July) on Manchester Road in Swinton, left the boy with what are described as non life threatening injuries.

The road was temporarily closed at the scene and the boy has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, failing to stop for police, disqualified driving as well as drug offences.

A Greater Manchester Police Spokesperson, said:

“Our district Salford officers spotted a motorcycle that failed to stop along Manchester Road in Swinton at around 7:30pm last night (Monday 8 July 2024).

“During a very short pursuit, the motorcycle collided with a member of the public’s car. The rider, a 17-year-old boy, suffered injuries which are not life-threatening or life-changing and was subsequently arrested. The motorcycle was seized at the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

“In-line with normal procedure, referrals were made to GMP’s Professional Standards Directorate and the Independent Office for Police Conduct which have concluded their investigations into officer conduct, with no further action needed.”

The incident was referred to GMP’s Professional Standards Directorate and the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which concluded that no further action is to be taken.
