Do you have an unused bike gathering dust in your garage? Consider donating it to the Salford Employment Hub’s Riding to Success community programme. An old bike could be the key to a brighter future for young, unemployed Salford residents participating in our summer programmes.
The Riding to Success initiative, in partnership with Manchester Bike Kitchen, offers a unique opportunity for unemployed individuals aged 16 to 24. This programme is designed to help them develop essential teamworking skills and boost their confidence through hands-on training.
How Donations Help
- Training and Empowerment: Participants will receive training to repair and maintain bikes. This practical experience not only equips them with valuable skills but also instills a sense of achievement and self-reliance.
- Sustainable Transportation: Each young person keeps the bike they repair, providing them with a reliable mode of transportation. This is essential for accessing job opportunities, training, and educational programmes.
- Supporting Young Carers and Those in Care: Extra bikes will be donated to young carers and local authority care residents. This helps them commute to work or training programmes, making a significant impact on their daily lives.
How to Donate
Bike collection days are scheduled for Tuesday, 16 July, and Wednesday, 17 July 2024. To donate an unused bike, please contact Georgia Boland at georgia.boland@salford.gov.uk to arrange a collection.
